The Estate

Domaine Jamet is a highly respected estate located in the Northern Rhône Valley of France, specifically in the Côte-Rôtie appellation. The domaine was founded by Joseph Jamet in 1950 and gained international recognition under the stewardship of his son, Jean-Paul Jamet, who took over in 1991. Today, the estate is run by Jean-Paul and his son, Loïc, who joined the family business in 2013. Domaine Jamet is renowned for producing some of the finest examples of Côte-Rôtie, known for their elegance, complexity, and ability to age gracefully.

Steep Granite Tests Vines

The domain's parcels across multiple steep granite slopes benefited from moderate summer temperatures and perfectly-timed September rains. Careful harvest timing through October captured optimal ripeness while preserving crucial northern Rhône freshness. The wine demonstrates the vintage's classic balance through refined violet aromatics and black olive notes, underpinned by the granitic minerality typical of Jamet's diverse terroir selections.

September Rain Tests Timing

Jamet's steep schist slopes demanded precise harvest timing as September rains challenged the northern Rhône's late season. The vintage's moderate summer allowed gradual ripening across the family's eleven lieu-dits parcels scattered through Côte Brune and Côte Blonde. Traditional whole-cluster fermentation amplifies the wine's iron-laden minerality, violet florals, and the appellation's textbook olive tapenade character.

Schist Meets Summer Sun

The steep schist slopes captured maximum ripeness during an intense summer, while the estate's old vines thrived in the drought conditions. Cooling winds from the Rhône valley preserved aromatic complexity through the warm season. The concentrated Syrah delivers iron-rich minerality and profound depth, reflecting both site and vintage precision.

Old Vines Weather Heat

The vintage's intense summer heat forced Jamet's old Syrah vines to dig deep into the schist soils of their steep Côte-Rôtie parcels. Their mosaic of exposures across both Côte Brune and Côte Blonde allowed for nuanced picking decisions as temperatures peaked. The wine reveals profound dark fruits, smoky minerals, and violets while maintaining the estate's hallmark precision despite the warmth.
