The Estate

Taittinger, founded in 1734, is one of the few remaining family-owned and operated Champagne houses. Based in Reims, the house is currently led by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his children, Vitalie and Clovis. Taittinger owns 288 hectares of vineyards, making it the second largest domaine in Champagne, with holdings in the best crus of the Champagne region. The house is particularly known for its Chardonnay-dominant style, with its prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne, being a blanc de blancs made entirely from Chardonnay.

Avize Shows Precision

Perfect growing conditions in the Côte des Blancs allowed gradual ripening across the house's grand cru chalk slopes. The pure Chardonnay from Avize and Cramant benefited from cool autumn nights, preserving vital acidity. The wine shows citrus intensity, chalk minerality, and the crystalline purity that defines this prestige blanc de blancs.

Chalk Soils Drive Precision

The pure chalk soils of the Côte des Blancs provided ideal conditions during the warm, balanced growing season, particularly in the estate's grand cru parcels in Avize and Chouilly. September's perfect weather allowed precise harvest timing of the Chardonnay at optimal ripeness. The wine shows intense citrus and white flower notes framed by the signature chalky minerality and vertical precision of these historic sites.
