Giacomo Grimaldi, established in 1930 in Piedmont, Italy, is a family-run winery deeply rooted in the traditions of Barolo winemaking. Over the decades, the Grimaldi family has focused on producing wines that honor the heritage of Nebbiolo while embracing precise and thoughtful viticulture. Today, the estate is celebrated for its small-production, handcrafted wines that reflect the elegance and complexity of the Langhe.
The estate is located in the Langhe region of Piedmont, home to the famed Barolo DOCG. This hilly region is characterized by a continental climate with warm summers, foggy autumns, and cool winters. The area’s unique climatic balance, paired with its steep hillsides, provides ideal growing conditions for Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera varietals.
Giacomo Grimaldi’s vineyards are planted on diverse soils, ranging from calcareous clay to sandstone, which impart distinct characteristics to their wines. The southeast-facing slopes allow for optimal sun exposure, aiding in the slow ripening of Nebbiolo grapes. This terroir contributes to the estate’s Barolos, which showcase a harmonious blend of aromatic complexity, firm structure, and vibrant acidity.
