Maurice Grumier is a family-run Champagne house with roots dating back to 1743, located in the village of Venteuil. Over generations, the Grumier family has honed their craft, transitioning from grape growers to independent producers in the mid-20th century. Today, they are celebrated for their grower Champagnes, which highlight their commitment to sustainable viticulture and authentic expression of their vineyards.
The Grumier estate lies in the Vallée de la Marne, one of Champagne’s key sub-regions. This area is renowned for its rolling vineyards along the Marne River, which benefit from a temperate climate influenced by both maritime and continental factors. The region is particularly well-known for producing expressive Pinot Meunier, which thrives in its conditions.
The terroir of Maurice Grumier’s vineyards is characterized by clay-limestone soils, which provide the perfect balance of water retention and drainage, crucial for quality Champagne production. The varied vineyard plots across different exposures and altitudes add complexity to the wines.
