Thomas Morey, the tenth generation of the Morey family in Chassagne-Montrachet, founded his estate with his wife Sylvie in 2006 after 12 years of working alongside his parents. The estate released its first vintage in 2007, marking a new chapter in the family’s winemaking history. With a focus on tradition and a deep connection to the region’s heritage, Thomas continues the Morey family legacy, which dates back to 1643, while also crafting wines that reflect his own unique vision.
The Thomas Morey Estate is situated in Chassagne-Montrachet, part of Burgundy’s prestigious Côte de Beaune subregion. Renowned for producing some of the world’s finest white wines from Chardonnay, the area is also home to exceptional Pinot Noir. The region’s semi-continental climate, with warm summers and cool winters, supports balanced grape ripening and preserves acidity in the wines.
The terroir of Chassagne-Montrachet is defined by its limestone-rich soils, with variations of marl and clay that influence each vineyard’s character. Thomas Morey’s parcels are scattered across some of the appellation’s most esteemed plots, including both Premier Cru and village-level vineyards. These terroirs produce wines with mineral-driven precision, layered complexity, and a harmonious balance between richness and freshness, hallmarks of the Chassagne-Montrachet style.
