Established in the early 19th century by Irishman Bernard Phélan, Château Phélan Ségur emerged from the amalgamation of two estates: Clos de Garramey and Château Ségur. The property remained under the Phélan family's stewardship until the early 20th century, with each generation enhancing its reputation.
Located in Saint-Estèphe, the estate benefits from the appellation's diverse terroir and proximity to the Gironde estuary, which moderates the climate. This setting is conducive to producing robust and structured wines, typical of the region.
The 70-hectare vineyard is planted on gravel, sand, and clay soils, supporting a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. This varied terroir contributes to the complexity and depth of the wines, embody
