Founded in the 18th century, Château Haut-Marbuzet is situated in the Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux. The estate gained prominence under Hervé Duboscq, who acquired it in 1952 and expanded its vineyards. His son, Henri Duboscq, continued this legacy, enhancing the château's reputation for producing high-quality wines.
Saint-Estèphe, located in the northern Médoc, is known for its robust and age-worthy red wines. The region's proximity to the Gironde estuary moderates temperatures, providing a favorable microclimate for viticulture. The appellation's diverse soils, primarily composed of gravel, clay, and limestone, contribute to the distinctive character of its wines.
Château Haut-Marbuzet's vineyards are planted on gravelly soils over a clay-limestone subsoil, offering excellent drainage and promoting deep root systems. This terroir, combined with meticulous vineyard management, results in wines that are rich, full-bodied, and expressive of their Saint-Estèphe origins.
