Founded in 1979, Domaine Bruno Clair has grown into one of Burgundy’s premier wine estates, with vineyards spanning some of the region’s most celebrated appellations. Initially established with holdings in Marsannay, Fixin, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Morey-Saint-Denis, Bruno Clair expanded the domaine by inheriting his family’s prized vineyards in 1986, including Clos de Bèze and Clos Saint-Jacques. Subsequent acquisitions, such as plots in Aloxe-Corton in 1993 and Bonnes-Mares in 2006, reflect a continuous pursuit of excellence, resulting in a diverse portfolio that embodies the essence of Burgundy.
The Côte de Nuits, home to Domaine Bruno Clair, is a cornerstone of Burgundy winemaking, celebrated for its exceptional Pinot Noir and storied grand cru sites. The region’s limestone-rich soils and varied microclimates support nuanced expressions of terroir, from the power of Gevrey-Chambertin to the elegance of Chambolle-Musigny. Marsannay-la-Côte, where the domaine is headquartered, is gaining recognition for its quality wines, contributing to the prestige of the northern Côte d’Or.
With over 24 hectares of vineyards in Burgundy’s top communes, Domaine Bruno Clair benefits from an array of soil compositions, exposures, and elevations. Its holdings include renowned crus like Clos de Bèze, Corton-Charlemagne, and Bonnes-Mares, where Pinot Noir thrives. Employing lutte raisonnée—a sustainable viticulture method transitioning to organic practices—the estate prioritizes environmental harmony. Their wines, which include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Aligoté, are lauded for their balance, depth, and expression of Burgundy’s unparalleled terroir.
