Domaine de la Vougeraie, established in 1999, is a family-owned estate located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, France. The domaine was created by uniting several vineyard holdings acquired by the Boisset family over nearly five decades, beginning with a 5-hectare plot north of Gevrey-Chambertin in 1964. The name "La Vougeraie" pays homage to the family home and the village of Vougeot, reflecting the estate's deep-rooted connection to the region.
Today, Domaine de la Vougeraie encompasses approximately 37 hectares across 29 appellations, including notable Grand Cru vineyards such as Charmes-Chambertin Les Mazoyères, Bonnes Mares, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, Corton Le Clos du Roi, and Corton-Charlemagne Le Charlemagne. The estate also holds exclusive monopoles like Le Clos du Prieuré and the Premier Cru vineyard Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot. The vineyards are managed using biodynamic practices, emphasizing a harmonious relationship between the earth, the vine, and humanity to draw the best from each terroir.
In the cellar, the winemaking approach is one of minimal intervention to allow the purest expression of the terroir. Grapes are destemmed, crushed, and undergo a 4–5 day maceration, with fermentation initiated by ambient wild yeasts in open wooden vats. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new oak varying between 30% and 100%, depending on the cuvée. This meticulous process results in wines that are celebrated for their depth, complexity, and authenticity, solidifying Domaine de la Vougeraie's reputation as a producer of exceptional Burgundy wines.
