Ruinart, established in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart, holds the distinction of being the oldest Champagne house. Inspired by the vision of his uncle, Dom Thierry Ruinart, Nicolas pioneered the use of sparkling wines to cater to an emerging elite clientele. With nearly three centuries of history, Ruinart remains synonymous with elegance and innovation, producing some of the most iconic Champagnes in the world.
Located in the Champagne region of France, Ruinart benefits from the area’s cool climate and chalky soils. These conditions are ideal for cultivating Chardonnay, which forms the backbone of its refined and aromatic wines. The region's long growing season ensures that grapes ripen slowly, preserving acidity and developing complex flavors.
Ruinart sources its grapes primarily from grand cru and premier cru vineyards, with a focus on Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. The region’s deep chalk subsoils provide excellent drainage and contribute to the signature minerality of Ruinart Champagnes. This terroir, combined with centuries of expertise, results in wines that are both vibrant and gracefully balanced.
